EMPS credentials
EMPS credentials recognise emergency management practitioners who have demonstrated the capability, experience and professional standards required for key roles.
They help agencies and jurisdictions identify practitioners who meet nationally consistent standards, while recognising that local induction, briefing and operational context remain essential.
Credential types
EMPS offers two credential types: Registration and Certification.
Registration
Registration recognises practitioners who perform a defined emergency management role proficiently. It is generally suited to people who have completed relevant training, gained experience and demonstrated the role in practice.
Certification
Certification recognises practitioners who perform advanced roles in high-impact, high-consequence emergency environments. It is suited to people who can demonstrate expert capability, senior judgement and leadership in complex contexts.
All credentialed practitioners are expected to maintain their capability, work within their competence and comply with the EMPS Code of Ethics.
